Thanks to Kotaku, I have stumbled upon a fascinating indie game. This game is Receiver. According to the official website, Receiver was created by Wolfire Games, as part of a 7-day development challenge. At first, the game may appear to be a simplistic first-person shooter. After watching the attached video, you will see why that is not the case. The “mechanics” video showcases why this game is among the most realistic shooters I have ever seen, despite its art style. The lack of a HUD, the physics, and even the control scheme (eg. sprinting) all flourish with ambition. For $4.99, this game seems like a steal. With that said, I haven’t purchased it yet. Hopefully human ingenuity has triumphed the obstacle of a low budget and short development cycle.
