Freebird Games Announces A Bird Story

One of my favourite games I have ever played has got to be To The Moon. I played it late last year, and have been raving about it ever since. It is a point-and-click adventure game, with one of the most heartfelt stories in the entire medium. It is also available for $10 on Steam. It will only take a couple of hours to beat, and is absolutely worth your time and money. In fact, just save yourself some time and purchase the bundle with the soundtrack. Move over Mass Effect 3, To the Moon’s soundtrack is easily the most provocative I’ve heard in a long time (Alright, maybe its up there with Journey. BUT THATS JOURNEY! COME ON!).

Anyway, Freebird Games (the people – Kan Gao – behind To The Moon) just announced its sort-of sequel. While he openly admits that he is working on a second part to the game, he has also stated that there will be a tie-in chapter coming sooner. That chapter is now known as A Bird Story.

A Bird Story

A Bird Story is a 30-minute short story with very little dialogue. It follows a boy and a bird with a broken wing. It is meant to be treated as a stand-alone title in the To the Moon universe. Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts are not in this story (it takes place before their time), but the boy in the game grows up to be the patient in the highly-anticipated (by me, at least) To The Moon Part 2 (official name pending).

The first track from the OST has been released, as well as some game art and screenshots. It is expected to come out mid-2013, during the summer. Details can be found over at the official website.
